DESI Mass Spectrometry Poster

This poster was produced for project O3 - Imaging mass spectrometry (2006-2009) under the NMS Chemical and Biological Metrology programme by LGC. The poster is on DESI mass spectrometry and was presented at the 29th British Mass Spectrometry Society (BMSS) meeting in September 2007. This is an emerging area of mass spectrometry and the poster generated interest from scientists and instrument manufacturers alike.
Imaging mass spectrometry is a new tool that allows the mass spectrometer to draw pictures similar to what might be seen under a microscope. The pictures are created by ionising adjacent areas of a sample and reconstructing the resulting mass spectra. Each individual m/z (mass to charge ratio) signal observed is then given a colour and an image is generated which shows exactly where the different m/z's are located.
