The production of a soft drinking water reference material characterised for metals
This report describes the production and characterisation of a soft drinking water reference material containing aluminium, antimony, arsenic, barium, boron, cadmium, calcium, chromium, copper, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, nickel, potassium, selenium, sodium and zinc.
The material was prepared from a genuine soft drinking water source and the levels of the elements of interest adjusted to reflect the current EU and UK drinking water legislation (98/83/EC). The material was certified by a combination of high accuracy IDMS measurement carried out at LGC (for cadmium, iron and zinc) and an inter-laboratory study (for the remaining elements).
