The production of a poultry feed reference material

This report describes the production and characterisation of a poultry feed reference material replacing a previous batch which had sold out. The new material LGC7173, Batch 3 is packaged in 45g sachets and is suitable for use in the development, validation or quality control of analytical methods for the determination of the major constituents and selected elements in feeds. The material may also be applicable to other matrices where suitable reference materials are not available.

This material was produced and characterised by LGC in the UK under its accreditation to ISO Guide 34: 2000 for the production of reference materials. The characterisation data were obtained through an inter-laboratory study organised by LGC.

LGC’S Research and Technology Division acts as the designated UK National Measurement Institute (NMI) for chemical and biochemical measurement. In this capacity, it serves on the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) Committee for reference materials (REMCO), which aims to carry out and encourage a broad international effort for the harmonisation, production and application of certified reference materials
