Comparison of Luminex vs MSD platform technologies for biomarker detection
This poster relates to work carried out under project DD1 - Quality metric toolkit for biomarker discovery and validation (Biomarker metrics) of the NMS Chemical and Biological Metrology programme.
Biomarkers are useful as indicators of normal biologic processes, pathogenic processes, or pharmacologic responses to a therapeutic intervention. The natural broad dynamic range of proteins in serum challenges antibody-based detection of these low-level analytes. Biomarkers extend from the pg/mL to ng/mL range and it is the profile of these markers that assist with the diagnosis of numerous disease states. This poster describes an evaluation of two antibody-based detection methods based on a range of performance characteristics (e.g. sensitivity, specificity, signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range).
The poster was presented at the GTCBio Biomarkers Discovery conference held in Ireland in September 2008.
