Education and training activities 2006-2007

EURACHEM Education and training working group

The education and training working group met in Vilnius in May 2007.  The main focus of the meeting was to agree a work programme for 2007-2010. The projects to be taken forward by the group are:

• Organisation of an Education and Training Workshop in conjunction with the Eurachem General Assembly in Athens in May 2008. The workshop will focus on the interpretation of quality assurance terminology and how method validation, measurement uncertainty and traceability can be implemented.
• Guidance for laboratories on interpretation of new and revised terms in the new version of the ‘International vocabulary of basic and general terms in metrology’ (ISO Guide 99).
• Development of examples suitable for training and/or teaching which support the guidelines already available for measurement uncertainty, method validation and traceability.
• Production of material which can be used in university curricula to illustrate how the principles of ISO/IEC 17025 can be implemented in a university laboratory.
• Development of topics for an 8 hour programme for BSc students to meet the Eurocurriculum requirements.
