- Event Type - Seminar
- Location - Online
- Start Date - 21 February 2008
- Duration - 15 minutes
- Cost - Free
LGC's Dr Heidi Goenaga Infante will be live online on the 21st February 2008 at 10am to introduce her latest research - Recent developments in metallomic approaches for improved anti-cancer therapy.
Molecular and selenium speciation measurements in pre-clinical models have supported observed differences in response between healthy and cancer cells to chemotherapy in the presence of increased selenium levels; cancer cells are sensitised to chemotherapy by selenium whilst normal cells may be protected. The relevance of translating these studies into the clinic by administering Se species to lymphoma patients, to future cancer treatment, and related analytical challenges are important topics for discussion.
Heidi's talk gives strategic contribution to a programme of events which aim to build on synergies between the National Measurement System and the Chemistry Innovation Knowledge Transfer Network (CIKTN). These activities are part of CIKTN's stake in Measurement and Standards for Emerging Technologies (MSET). MSET is a web-enabled channel connecting you to measurement information and experts focused on the KTN's needs. DIUS supports MSET to help companies and all technology users understand how measurement can impact and improve products and services.
To join this free event, register at the MSET website and visit the Conference Centre.
